Important Changes to RAWS Association Gas Licence
The RAWS Association has been informed that group Pre-Charged Equipment (PCE) licences, such as that presently offered by the RAWS Association to its members, will cease on 31 December 2011. From 1 January 2012 a PCE licence can only be used where the name of the licence holder is also the name on the Customs Declaration.
Options for members from 1/1/2012:
- Degas all vehicles prior to leaving country of origin and obtain suitable degas certificate.
- One-off licence for client that permits up to 5 vehicles, last 14 days, one only per two years.
- Obtain your own gas licence if you import sufficient vehicles in your own name.
We estimate that if you import more than 10 vehicles in a two year period in your name then acquring a PCE licence will be the most cost effective option. If you choose to apply for a PCE licence be aware you will need to allow up to 60 days for your application to be processed. For more information on obtaining a PCE Licence see the
Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities website.
